Despite being just 27 years old and having three Pro Bowls under his belt, Todd Gurley has not played in the NFL since the 2020 season.
The former star running back for the Los Angeles Rams signed a one-year deal to play with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020 and has not played a snap since. However, he has no issues not playing. According to Mike Gavin of NBCLX, Gurley said that he didn't miss the NFL at all when he was watching this past season.
“There was never not one time where I watched a game and was like, ‘I wish I was out there,’” Gurley said. “I appreciated my time in the league and I've done things I could have never even dreamed about.”
Gurley didn't say for sure that he would be retiring from the NFL. He said simply that it's not what he is looking to do at the moment. Although his odds of returning deplete with every year that passes, he is enjoying his life and his family time.
“If I want to try to play again, I can try to pursue that. Or if I don’t, I can just relax and chill at the house and spend a lot more time with my family because that’s what it's all about at the end of the day.”
Since leaving the NFL, Todd Gurley has gotten involved with Fan Controlled Football, a start-up league that features Terrell Owens and Johnny Manziel. He is the owner of the Beasts, who are near the bottom of the standings.
