The Los Angeles Rams and the Houston Texans will face off on Sunday to help kick off Week 8 of the NFL season. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Rams-Texans prediction and pick.

Los Angeles enters this game as one of the best teams in the NFL, a status that has been helped by their recent opponents. In the last two weeks the Rams have faced the Detroit Lions and the New York Giants, two of the worst teams in the NFL. Now they face the Texans, who are almost unanimously considered the worst team in the league.

It's just Houston's luck that they run into the Rams here after facing the Arizona Cardinals a week ago. The Texans can't seem to catch a break this year, and this game likely won't be any different.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the odds for Sunday's Rams-Texans matchup.

NFL Odds: Rams-Texans Odds

Los Angeles Rams -15 1/2 (-110)

Houston Texans +15 1/2 (-110)

Over 46.5 points (-105)

Under 46.5 points (-115)

Why The Rams Can Cover The Spread

The addition of quarterback Matthew Stafford has turned the Rams into one of the best offenses in the NFL. Los Angeles hasn't scored less than 20 points in any game this season, and they've notched three 30-point games in this season already. The Texans have been downright abysmal against pretty much any offense this season, as they've allowed five opponents to put up more than 30 points on them. The Rams won't have any trouble scoring in this one.

It's obvious that there haven't been many bright spots for Houston this season, and that includes their offense. Rookie quarterback Davis Mills has been horrible in all but one of his starts, and now he has to face this vaunted Rams defense. The Texans have only scored a total of 30 points over their last four games, and now they face one of the toughest defenses they'll see all year. The last time the Texans faced a defense comparable to Los Angeles, the Buffalo Bills pitched a shutout and won by 40.

Why The Texans Can Cover The Spread

If the Texans do manage to pull off a cover here, it'll probably be because of how the Rams play as opposed to how they play. Los Angeles has a tendency to play down to their competition as evidenced by their narrow win over the Detroit Lions in Week 7. The Rams should have led the whole way and won that game by multiple scores, but instead they needed a Jalen Ramsey interception in the end zone to lock up a victory against the winless Lions. This also happened in 2020 when the winless New York Jets beat the Rams well into the season. If Los Angeles comes out flat again, it'll be hard for them to cover a two touchdown spread regardless of how poorly the Texans play.

Surprisingly, the Rams have been gashed by opposing run games this season. The Chicago Bears exposed that weakness in Week 1, and teams have continued to attack it throughout the season. Houston's run game may be the best part of their offense, as the running back rotation of Mark Ingram, Philip Lindsay, and David Johnson has actually provided the Texans with some decent offensive production. Running the ball efficiently could help keep the Rams off the field while keeping the score from becoming a blowout.

Final Rams-Texans Prediction & Pick

This is the second week in a row the Rams have faced a double digit spread, and this one should honestly be bigger. The bookmakers are factoring in the Lions game a little bit too much here, so Los Angeles is getting a good line in this matchup. Take the Rams with confidence.

FINAL RAMS-TEXANS PREDICTION & PICK: Los Angeles Rams -14 1/2 (-106)
