The Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts will face off in NFL Week 1 action on Sunday morning. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Seahawks-Colts prediction and pick.

This is one of the most important games of Week 1. The Seahawks hope to win the NFC West, and a matchup against a playoff-caliber team is a great way to see where they stand. The Colts don't have nearly as much competition in the AFC South as the Seahawks do in their division, so this is one of their toughest matchups all season. Indianapolis sees themselves as a playoff team at the very least, but there's so much uncertainty surrounding quarterback Carson Wentz. A good performance from Wentz and a win would go a long way in reassuring Colts fans about their playoff prospects this year.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the Seahawks-Colts odds and lines for Sunday's game.

Why The Seahawks Can Cover The Spread

Much like last season, the Seahawks will rely on their offense to win them games. That's not a terrible strategy when you have quarterback Russell Wilson running the offense. Wilson is a top-five quarterback in the league, and his stats prove it. The Wisconsin product racked up over 4,200 yards passing and 40 touchdowns while only throwing 13 interceptions. He should replicate those stats in this season, as most of his weapons return to the lineup. Receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett form one of the deadliest pass-catching duos in football, and the offensive line got some upgrades. Running back Chris Carson gives Seattle one of the league's best power runners. This unit is going to be incredibly difficult to stop, even for the Colts.

Indianapolis sports one of the best defenses in football, but their offense isn't nearly as strong. The Colts look like they'll be forced to deploy one of the worst wide receiver groups in all of football on Sunday, and Carson Wentz is still a question mark. Seattle's defense was horrendous last season, but even they have a chance of putting together a decent performance against this Colts squad.

Why The Colts Can Cover The Spread

Indianapolis happens to match up very well with Seattle's defense, with the biggest advantage coming on the line of scrimmage. The Seahawks struggle with offensive line play every season, and despite some upgrades, it should be more of the same this year. DeForest Buckner leads this defensive line that spearheaded the second-best run defense in football in 2020. This unit lost some of its pass rush when Justin Houston left to the Baltimore Ravens, but they've reloaded with a deep and steady rotation of players. Don't be surprised to see Wilson running for his life all day against this defense.

The Colts may not have much offensive firepower, but this team can run the ball at will. General manager Chris Ballard has assembled one of the best offensive lines in football and a great stable of running backs to play behind it. Seattle was surprisingly good against the run last year, but their numbers are partially inflated because teams were almost forced to pass the ball to keep up with Wilson. Indianapolis should get a couple of stops, run the ball, and keep the Seahawks' offense on the sideline. When the run game inevitably becomes a problem for Seattle, Wentz should have a much easier time finding open receivers. The Colts may seem like a good matchup for the Seahawks on paper, but Seattle should struggle against them on Sunday.

Final Seahawks-Colts Prediction & Pick

This will be a close game, and Indy should be able to cover at least. They play on their home turf, and they don't match up poorly with the Seahawks. Picking the Colts to win straight up isn't a bad option either, but the spread is obviously a much safer play.
