Week 12 of the NFL season should bring us this great NFC matchup between improving teams. The San Francisco 49ers will host the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. It's time to continue our NFL odds series with a Vikings-49ers prediction and pick.
The Vikings are one of the more improving teams as of late. They are fresh off two solid wins against the Los Angeles Chargers and Green Bay Packers. Kirk Cousins is quietly playing like one of the better quarterbacks this year and it's starting to show. He only has two interceptions on the year and over 20 touchdown passes. The Vikings have an all-around roster with players who can step up at each position. That will be a major factor Sunday against the 49ers.

The 49ers are also on the rise at this point in the season. They have won three of their last four games and one was against the LA Rams. The offense is starting to come alive and we already know how difficult their defense is to score on. It's going to be tough for the 49ers to make the playoffs with the dominant NFC West division. If they keep winning games, however, they will sneak into Wild Card weekend and could easily upset a top playoff seed.

Why The Vikings Could Cover The Spread
With the way the Vikings are playing, they can cover any spread they go against. Both sides of the ball are playing well and that should lead to positive results moving forward. The Vikings are averaging over 25 points per game and have scored over 25 in four of their last five games. They currently have the 7th overall offense in the NFL. Minnesota is 6-4 against the spread this season.
If the Vikings can put up points they should win this game. Their defense will do a good enough job of limiting the 49ers' offense. With that being said, if the Vikings can score at least 24 points I think that will be enough to win the game. I think the Vikings could really start to get going if they beat the 49ers this week.
Why The 49ers Could Cover The Spread
The 49ers are the favorite in this game but I think the only reason that is the case is because of the home-field advantage. San Francisco is dealing with some injuries but that shouldn't be deciding factor in this one. The 49ers are 4-6 against the spread this year as betters haven't had the easiest time choosing this team.
The 49ers will need to stop Kirk Cousins if they want to have a chance to cover. He is playing well right now and their offense looks unstoppable at the moment. Dalvin Cook is as dominant of a running back you can have, so it's going to take an all-out effort to contain the Vikings offense on Sunday. If they don't they likely won't win this game.

I'm taking the Vikings to “upset” the 49ers on Sunday. Minnesota's offense is going to be the deciding factor in the game and they will move back up over .500 on the season. I don't think the 49ers' offense is going to play well on Sunday. This should be a close game for most of the game but I think the Vikings will edge them out.
