The Washington Football Team will face off against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Washington-Broncos prediction and pick.

Both of these teams are at a crucial point in their seasons. Washington came into this season with playoff hopes, and those hopes are still alive. A loss here will pretty much sink whatever playoff chances they have left, but this is a decent opportunity for a win. The Broncos have lost four games in a row and they were just humiliated by a hobbled Cleveland Browns team on national television. Denver is also hanging on to playoff hopes by a thread so this has turned into a must-win game.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the odds for Sunday's Washington Football Team-Broncos matchup.

NFL Odds: Football Team-Broncos Odds

Washington Football Team +3 1/2 (-110)

Denver Broncos -3 1/2 (-110)

Over 44 1/2 points (-110)

Under 44 1/2 points (-110)

Why Washington Can Cover The Spread

Washington hasn't been great recently, but the Broncos have arguably been even worse. They've been completely inept on offense, scoring more than 20 points only once over their last four games. Denver quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been one of the worst signal-callers in the league, as his inability to deliver a deep ball limits the Broncos' offense severely. The Football Team is coming off of their best defensive performance of the season after holding Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to a mere 24 points. Washington got consistent pressure on the quarterback and held their own in coverage in that game, and that was against a significantly better offense than Denver's. A repeat performance on defense is certainly possible here.

While it's true that Washington isn't an intimidating offensive team, there's a good chance they put up some solid points. Denver has devolved from being a defensive powerhouse to playing as an average defense at best. Denver was torched for 34 points by the Las Vegas Raiders and another 27 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Neither of those offenses are particularly good, and the Steelers are especially comparable to Washington. To make matters even worse for the Broncos, edge rusher Von Miller is unlikely to see the field in this game because of an ankle injury. Starting inside linebackers Alexander Johnson and Josey Jewell are both on injured reserve, so this unit is nowhere near full strength. Washington shouldn't have too much trouble scoring here.

Why The Broncos Can Cover The Spread

Denver's disappointing defense is equalled by how disappointing Washington's offense has been. This unit was never expected to be a top-ten offense in the league, but they were expected to be decent at the very least. Instead, they've been downright bad under quarterback Taylor Heinicke. The Football Team has put up a combined 23 points over their last two contests, with one of those contest coming against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are easily the worst defense in the league, and Washington only managed to score ten points against them. That's a good indicator for this Broncos defense that is significantly stronger than Kansas City's is.

Injuries have definitely hit the Broncos hard, but Washington hasn't escaped the bug either. Besides the injury to starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Football Team could be without a couple of key pieces here. Wide receivers Curtis Samuel and Dyami Brown are both questionable for this contest along with starting guard Brandon Scherff. Right tackle Sam Cosmi has also been ruled out for this contest.

Final Washington-Broncos Prediction & Pick

This is a pretty clear-cut pick. Denver has done absolutely nothing to inspire any sort of confidence, so the pick is Washington. The Broncos couldn't even handle the Browns when they were playing with their second-string unit. Take the points with confidence, as Washington could win this game outright.
