Tyrann Mathieu was the teammate of Deshaun Watson for a season in Houston. Now, the NFL All-Pro safety is giving input as to the teams that should explore a trade for the star quarterback.

Watson has reportedly told teammates he could seek a trade this offseason. Mathieu thinks the New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears are the three teams that should pounce at the opportunity to acquire Watson from the Texans.

The Niners might be ruled out, given both head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have issued statements of support for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

But the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears are both interesting NFL destinations. Chicago is particularly intriguing.

The Bears infamously had the chance to draft Watson (or Patrick Mahomes) with the No. 2 pick in the 2017 draft, instead opting for Mitchell Trubisky. Nearly four years later, they could be prepared to move on from Trubisky under center.

New Orleans, meanwhile, could be in the midst of a transitory period. There are expectations these might be Drew Brees' final games. The Saints have expressed little confidence in Jameis Winston and, despite his recent contract extension, there might skepticism as to whether Taysom Hill is ready to be the signal-caller of the future.

Deshaun Watson is a bona fide star. He led the NFL in passing yards (4,823) and completed over 70 percent of his attempts, throwing for 33 touchdowns against just seven interceptions. Watson also rushed for over 400 yards.

There is little doubt Watson would attract any number of suitors if he indeed seeks a trade, but Mathieu believes the above three teams should corner the market.
