Phillip Rivers and Tom Brady both joined new teams this offseason with the hope they can win a title before they hang up their cleats. The Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers both have talented teams with the belief that the missing piece is the quarterback. So what quarterback is going to find the most success during the 2020 season? Let's breakdown each quarterbacks outlook and predict who will have the better season.

Phillip Rivers

Phillip Rivers 2019 season was up and down, and for every couple of good throws he had, he would try to force something up and make a bad throw. Rivers finished the season with the Los Angeles Chargers completing 66 percent of his passes for 4,615 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions.

Even though Rivers had some struggles last season, Rivers is confident heading into the 2020 season.

“Couldn’t play anymore? Shoot, let’s turn on the tape.

I definitely had some throws I want back, and I’ll own every 1 of those, but I had some throws that probably were as good as any I’ve made in my career.”

Rivers might be onto something with comments about last season. The Chargers running game in 2019 was good, but it's clear he felt like he couldn't trust them. Late in the games, he thought he needed to be a hero, instead of just making the easy throws that were there.

The Colts have one of the most talented running back rooms in the NFL, and it's something that Rivers is going to be lean on heavily. The Colts should be able to lean on that, which is going to allow Rivers to be more of a game manager instead of having to hit the home run play every time. It might take a while for Rivers to adjust to his new style because he's always been a bit of gunslinger, but if he can do it, he should find a lot of success with the Colts. He also has T.Y. Hilton and former USC wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.

Tom Brady

Tom Brady left the New England Patriots to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and on paper, it looks like it's going to be a great fit. With the Patriots in 2019, there were a lot of questions about playmakers on the outside. Even with the lack of weapons, Brady threw for 4,057 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

With the Buccaneers, there is no shortage of weapons. Before Brady even signed with the squad, the Buccaneers had Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, O.J. Howard, and Cameron Brate. The Buccaneers also convinced Rob Gronkowski to come out out of retirement and drafted Tyler Johnson out of Minnesota.

The running game is a bit of a question with the Buccaneers, but Brady isn't afraid to throw the ball a lot, and he is smart when he does so. After what he had last year with the Patriots, Brady has to be licking his chops with all the weapons that he gets to work with.

So who's going to have the better year?

There is a lot of pressure on both guys to have a big year, and both guys are going to have success. Rivers is going to have a better season than last year, but he isn't going to have a better season than Brady. Brady isn't going to have to force anything this year because someone is always going to be open. Defenses aren't going to have enough defenders to take away everyone.

Neither of these guys are going to lead their team to the ultimate goal, but Brady is going to lead the Bucs farther. Look for the Buccaneers to get bounced in the AFC Championship game.
