Kyler Murray had a very impressive rookie campaign, but the Arizona Cardinals are expecting even bigger things from their exciting young quarterback in 2020.

During an interview with Mike Tirico of NBC Sports (via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk), Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said he thinks Murray will make a jump in Year 2:

“I think it comes down to the professional side of it, and that’s the way he studies, the way he prepares … Not that he didn’t before, but we all know that to be an elite quarterback in this league, you have to be prepared mentally more than anything else, and I think the guy has shown that he’s got a tremendous skill-set. The athleticism is off the charts. I think he’s even a better pure passer than people have anticipated, but the thing that’s gonna separate him is the ability to process, to see things, to make good decisions, get the ball out of his hands, don’t take so many sacks. I think those are the areas that you’re going to see him grow in 2020.”

Murray started every game in 2019, throwing for 3,722 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 64.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 87.4. In addition, he rushed for 544 yards and four scores, averaging 5.8 yards per carry.

Of course, Arizona did Murray a pretty big favor this offseason, acquiring star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in a trade with the Houston Texans last month.

With Hopkins now in tow, it's easy to see why Keim expects improvement from Murray heading into 2020.

The Cardinals went 5-10-1 this past season.
