Veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson says he “loves” the quiet confidence surrounding his new head coach.
Peterson, 29, is an eight-time Pro Bowl defensive back entering his ninth season in the NFL—all with the Arizona Cardinals. The stable vet in the Cardinals' secondary has been gradually impressed by Kliff Kingsbury, the 39-year-old former Texas Tech coach who was hired by Arizona in the offseason to fill their head coach vacancy.

Kingsbury left Texas Tech following the conclusion of the 2018 season, with Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt parting with the young coach. He would agree to be USC's offensive coordinate in 2019; however, with buzz surrounding Kingsbury's name, the coach interviewed for various teams, eventually landing on the Cardinals.
Peterson has been with the franchise since 2011 when the Cards drafted the DB out of LSU with the fifth overall pick in that year's NFL Draft. He's a four-time first-team All-Pro CB, too—even making last year's first team despite the three-win record of the Arizona franchise.
Peterson recorded two interceptions, 54 tackles, and appeared in every one of the Cardinals 16 regular-season games last season, maintaining his status as the team's lockdown secondary matchup for opposing wideouts.
Cardinals general manager Steve Keim was also complimentary of his new hire in Kingsbury, saying the head coach has a “great demeanor.”
