With Keanu Neal out for the season, the Atlanta Falcons are kicking the tires on a couple of safeties to bring the team some depth.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Falcons are bringing in T.J. McDonald and George Iloka for workouts on Tuesday.

This is the second year in a row that Neal has been lost for the season due to injuries, and the injury has taken a real toll on his teammates.

Last year, Ricardo Allen went through the same Achilles injury and knows how tough it will be for Neal to not be with his teammates.

“He’s been our enforcer,” fellow DB Ricardo Allen said Monday via AJC.com. “Seeing tears in his eyes is a different feel. You don’t see too many things break him down. You don’t see too many things that even slow him down. You’ve seen him make some of the toughest hits in the league, fighting offensive linemen, doing some of the toughest work that you’ll see players do.”

Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell knows the defense is going to miss their leader, but other guys need to step up to fill the void.

“It affects us in a major way,” linebacker De’Vondre Campbell said. “He’s a huge part of our team. He’s an enforcer. His style of play is everything we represent as a defense. So, for us to lose him in the way we did, it hurts.”

If the Falcons decide to sign McDonald or Iloka, they will be brought in for depth, and I wouldn't expect to see them starting.
