The Atlanta Falcons are making it well know that they want to make re-signing defensive tackle Grady Jarrett a big priority this offseason.

It wasn't exactly an ideal year for the Falcons, as they struggled to a 7-9 record after previously earning back-to-back trips to the postseason.

However, now the organization must focus on retooling the roster in hopes of getting back on track sooner rather than later, it appears that keeping Jarrett is a main focus for the front office, via Falcons beat writer Will McFadden.

“We would like to have Grady back for many years to come,” Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. “Not only on the field but what he does off the field for us, he’s very important. That has been our focus. We put it aside for a little bit through the season, of course, so he could focus on what he needed to focus on. Now, we’re back focusing on that as really our priority to see how this proceeds, and I’m confident with it.”

Jarrett posted 52 combined tackles and six sacks this season while forcing three fumbles.

He's someone that could certainly continue to anchor Atlanta's defensive line moving forward, and that's an area where major improvement is needed after numerous injuries on that side of the ball throughout the year.

This may have just been one of those seasons for Dan Quinn's squad, and it probably wouldn't be all that surprising to see the Falcons back in the NFC South title picture next season.
