The Baltimore Ravens have made some significant changes to their defense in the 2019 NFL season. It seems one of their new additions in linebacker L.J. Fort has now become a mainstay for the foreseeable future.

The Ravens announced that they have signed Fort to a two-year extension, via Twitter:

Fort has proven to be quite the midseason pickup for Baltimore with 14 tackles and a sack in the 2019 campaign. He was able to take full advantage of all the changes to the linebacker corps after Patrick Onwuasor was sidelined with an ankle injury in Week 4 and Kenny Young was dealt to the Los Angeles Rams ahead of the Oct. 29 trade deadline.

It is safe to say that Fort is happy to finally have a chance to settle down with one team after spending his career as an NFL journeyman. The former undrafted free agent was initially signed by the Cleveland Browns prior to the 2012 NFL season. He bounced around from five different teams before finally signing a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, however, he was ultimately released after four games.

Fort's arrival helped to solidify a resurgence in the run defense after they were torched by Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb in Week 4. Despite all the changes to the defense, the Ravens now find themselves in the driver's seat of the AFC Conference at 6-2 heading into the second half of the season.

Fort will be looking to make his presence felt with a favorable road matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10.
