The Baltimore Ravens have officially ushered in the Lamar Jackson era this offseason with the release of quarterback Joe Flacco. It appears they will have some extra ammunition to help their roster in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Ravens made a splash when they traded back to get Jackson in last year's draft. However, their inability to retain center Ryan Jensen has resulted in them being awarded a compensatory third-round draft pick, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The pick will certainly help alleviate the pain from the loss of Jensen. The former sixth-round pick signed a lucrative four-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last offseason. The Ravens did not have much luck signing players in free agency, however, they finally seemed to have benefitted from his departure.

It is no secret that Baltimore is in the midst of some major changes both on their roster and in the front office. This will be the first year that general manager Eric DeCosta calls the shots for Baltimore come draft day following the departure of Ozzie Newsome. He will certainly have a bevy of assets at his disposal now that the Ravens have eight picks in the upcoming draft.

This will be a crucial offseason for Baltimore. Although Jackson may still be developing into a franchise quarterback, they have made it clear that their expectations are still higher than ever after extending head coach John Harbaugh's contract. It is safe to say that the Ravens will invest heavily in surrounding their young quarterback with as much talent as possible.
