It's that time of year where rookies are reporting to camp and put in front of a microphone for the first time. That's the case for the Baltimore Ravens as well, and one of their rookies went in-depth with reporters on one of his eating habits.

Ben Cleveland, nicknamed “Big Country,” spoke with Ravens reporters on Friday and recently spoke on “The Lounge” podcast about his fascination with eating squirrels.

“I don't know if it was a specific diet. It's more one of those things where you eat what you've got in the freezer from the fall,” Cleveland said. “Had a few squirrels freeze dried in there. Get a little hungry, ain't got no deer meat left, fry you up a squirrel or two and just go eat that.” – Ben Cleveland.

It's certainly an interesting choice in a meal, one that many can not say they have dabbled with. Perhaps even more fascinating is that Cleveland went on to describe how different squirrels from different regions taste differently based on the type of acorns they eat. Of course, the Ravens rookie has a way around that though.

“Some squirrels in south Georgia, they'll taste a little bit more nutty. Up here, our acorns and stuff aren't really as strong as the ones down south. Most of them up here, it just tastes like squirrel. If you put enough seasoning on it, you can make it taste like anything you want it to taste like.” – Ben Cleveland.

Ben Cleveland along with his nickname “Big Country” sounds like someone who's made to be an offensive lineman in the NFL. The fact he eats squirrels and knows all the little tidbits along with it is just the icing on the cake.

The Ravens appear to have found a good one in Ben Cleveland. The rookie third-round pick will look to make an instant impact in protecting Lamar Jackson in 2021.
