Through his first four years in the league with the Baltimore Ravens, linebacker C.J. Mosley has established himself as one of the premier players at his position.

The 25-year-old is set to enter the final year of his rookie deal that will pay him $8.7 million for the 2018 campaign. With that in mind, Mosley has made it clear that he not only wants to remain long-term with the franchise but also build a legacy that is only second to future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, according to Michael DiRocco and Jenna Laine of ESPN.

Mosley has been one of the anchors defensively for the Ravens through his first few years in the league. Stellar second-level defensive play has led to 474 tackles, eight interceptions, and six forced fumbles through his first four campaigns. This includes recording more than 115 tackles three times while missing just two games over that span. His performance on the field has helped him earn three Pro Bowl selections and three Second-Team All-Pro nods.

It is highly likely that the Ravens will work toward inking him to a long-term deal at some point during the upcoming offseason given his strong desire to remain with the team. On top of that, his play has certainly earned him the opportunity to land a lucrative contract.

That said, the aspirations of reaching the status that could rival Lewis is a lofty goal. He is widely recognized as one of the best linebackers to play the game that has the resume to back up that notion earning 13 Pro Bowl selections, seven First-Team All-Pro nods, three Second-Team All-Pro selections, and won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award twice.

Mosley has a long way to go before reaching legendary Ray Lewis status, but the motivation to earn that recognition could push him to perform at a higher level.
