The Baltimore Ravens had a hot training camp practice on Friday. Things would get even hotter between a couple of players and John Harbaugh.
Yesterday, John Harbaugh sent multiple players to the locker room in a heated practice. The Ravens were practicing fourth-down situations while the offense was trying to get the defense to jump offsides.
While doing the drill, multiple players jumped offsides and Harbaugh had enough of it. The Ravens head coach sent Cyrus Jones to the sideline after making the mistake—only for Jones to say something back to Harbaugh.
That didn't sit well with Harbaugh so he sent Jones to the locker room. Along with Marlon Humphrey—who also said something smart to Harbaugh. Having situations like these aren't great and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale was disappointed in his defense.
“For a second, I thought it was a baseball game after seeing guys get ejected, but that's all a part of being where we are in training camp,” Ravens defensive coordinator Wink Martindale said after practice, per the team's website. “I was a little disappointed today with our situational awareness.”
Mental mistakes could be the difference between a win or a loss in the regular season or playoffs. If the Ravens want to get to where they want to, they'll need to improve their situational awareness.
At least for the Ravens, they have veterans like Earl Thomas, Brandon Carr, and Jimmy Smith who can help the young guys realize that. The Ravens will need to get things fixed on defense before their Week 1 game against the Miami Dolphins.
