The Baltimore Ravens locked up head coach John Harbaugh for another three seasons last week as he looks to get this organization back into the playoffs after an injury-filled 2021.
Harbaugh has now been with the Ravens since 2008 and last season was only his second losing year since taking charge. While he is feeling grateful for this opportunity to keep coaching Baltimore, Harbaugh sees it as an opportunity to turn things around in 2022.
“Just a sense of gratitude for working in this organization, obviously,” Harbaugh said. “It’s a great place to be. Love the city. But just very determined. Very motivated in the sense that we need to win more games. We need to win more playoff games. We need to win championships. The Ravens need to win the whole thing.
“And helping our team be the best we can be, doing what everybody can do — you feel a big, big sense of responsibility and obligation along those lines. So, gratitude, yes. But more than that, just really determined to get us all where we want to be — help us get to where we want to be together, just doing my part in that.”
The entire Ravens' running back room was essentially injured in 21‘, with J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and Justice Edwards all dealing with health issues. Defensive star Marcus Peters also missed the entire campaign due to an ACL tear.
There is no doubt Baltimore will be fighting for superiority in the AFC North this season, but staying healthy is going to play a huge part. They certainly have the right man leading the way though. It's clear John Harbaugh is ready for a bounce-back year.
