It sounds like there is a mutual interest between the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson to remain with each other for the long haul. However, Jackson has yet to agree on a long-term contract extension. Typically we see players jump on the opportunity to secure the bag, but Baltimore's superstar quarterback is taking a different approach.
According to Ian Rapoport, Lamar Jackson is in no rush to get a deal done with the Ravens and could be open to being franchise tagged. We've seen Dak Prescott recently go through this process with the Dallas Cowboys before he eventually signed a monster deal. The same can be said about Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings.

Simply put, Lamar Jackson is searching for an optimal route to receive the biggest payday possible. It's hard to imagine contract talks go south between Jackson and the Ravens, as both sides want to continue working alongside each other.
This could certainly work well in the Ravens' favor. They could have a superstar quarterback playing on a cheap contract, allowing the franchise to allocate their money elsewhere to build the best roster possible. Eventually, we should see Lamar Jackson receive a massive extension, but it might not happen anytime soon.
We'll see how it all plays out, but the Ravens are in line to have one of the best rosters in the league. If the front office can acquire legitimate talent on the defensive side of the ball, Baltimore will be a problem for any opponent. Due to the obvious interest from both sides, fans should feel at ease about Lamar Jackson's contract status.
