Brockers, 29, agreed to a three-year contract worth $30 million with last season's No. 1 team in the AFC. Brockers was a first-round selection by the then-St. Louis Rams in the 2012 NFL Draft, making the trip to Los Angeles in the Rams' relocation paired up with star defensive tackle Aaron Donald to form an intimidating defensive line.
Brockers leaves the Rams after an eight-year tenure with the NFC West franchise, instead signing with the best team in the NFL last season, the Ravens, led by MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson.
In 16 games with the Rams in 2019, Brockers recorded 34 solo tackles, three tackles for losses, nine QB hits and made three sacks. Brockers, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound defensive tackle and end out of LSU, has only missed five games in his professional career thus far.
The Ravens have been all over the NFL's first day of free agency on Monday, March 16, earlier today trading tight end Hayden Hurst to the Atlanta Falcons for two draft picks along with trading for Jacksonville Jaguars 33-year-old defensive end, Calais Campbell. Baltimore also inked Campbell to a new deal worth $27 million over two years.
After falling short of expectations in 2019—losing in the divisional round to the then-surging Tennessee Titans in Jan. 2020—the Ravens appear to be moving in an aggressive direction in the offseason to surround Jackson with the best talent, and that includes beefing up their defensive line with the “versatile” Michael Brockers.
