The Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans squared off in the first game of the Wild Card Round of the 2019 NFL playoffs on Saturday. Buffalo was winning 16-0 at one point, but late in the fourth quarter, found themselves with down 19-16.
With the clock winding down, the Bills were going for one last drive to try and tie the game or even win it. That's where Booger McFarland came into play.

Fans love to knock on announcers. It's a national pastime at this point. A lot of the time, it seems like they really don't deserve it and the fans are just reaching for something to have a little fun with.
However, this one McFarland kind of brought on himself. There was almost no time left in the game and McFarland told the Bills to run a draw play. Not only run a draw play but run a draw play on third down, with no timeouts.
So if they do that, the idea would be to spike it the next play. However, what happens if they don't get the first down?

This time, he went the opposite way with it. McFarland went out of left field with this one. His idea was obvious to no one, because no one would have thought to do it. Not because it was such a crazy good idea that you have to be a mastermind to think up, but because it made no sense.
McFarland is not bad at his job. He sometimes states the obvious, but commentating is not an easy job, and you have to make sure everyone watching understands the situation or what just happened.
