Carolina Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton is set to enter his eighth season in the NFL where he has continued to perform like one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

However, his former teammate cornerback Josh Norman recently voiced that he believes Father Time is beginning to catch up with him being 29 years old with nearly a decade in the league under his belt, according to David Newton of ESPN.

Newton is in the midst of the physical prime where he could have some of the best football in his career still ahead of him. These comments from Norman may be hinging toward the fact that he may begin to start physically breaking down because of how much he runs the ball. Newton has rushed for more than 550 yards all but once in his first seven years in the league.

At the same time, this was nothing more than a friendly jab at Newton by Norman, who has built a strong bond over the last few years with the former league MVP after their noteworthy fight in practice three years ago that caught much media attention.

“He's a special guy. Unique,” Norman said. “He's the only one in the league that can do what he does. You can't make him up in the workshop.”

Newton is a uniquely gifted quarterback that can profoundly impact the game both with his arm and legs at an elite level. Following a disappointing end to the 2017 season in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs, the Panthers are hoping the arrival of new offensive Norv Turner could help bring out the best in the Pro Bowl quarterback to take the franchise back to the Super Bowl next season and possibly beyond that.
