The Chicago Bears head into their Week 5 matchup in England against the Oakland Raiders with a 3-1 record feeling really good about themselves. This is a game that they know they can't take advantage, though, or they will drop an important game.
Let's breakdown three storylines surrounding this team entering this showdown.
3. This is Chase Daniel's team for the time being
Mitchell Trubisky suffered a slight labrum tear and a dislocated left shoulder in the Bears opening drive against the Minnesota Vikings that will put him out at least a couple of weeks. Chase Daniels entered the game on Sunday and looked good against a strong defense and led them to a victory.
For some teams, it's scary when they turn to a backup quarterback, but there could be some arguments made that they might actually be better with Daniel's under center.
Last season Daniels played in five games starting two of them, and he was solid throwing for 515 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Daniels isn't that flashy, but Trubisky hasn't been, and this offense needs a good game manager who will take care of the ball, make the right throws, and not turn the ball over.
Anything could happen, and Daniels could start to struggle, but there is no reason the Bears shouldn't trust him to do a good job filling in until Trubisky can come back.
2. The Bears defensive line is scary, and now Khalil Mack faces his former team
Article Continues BelowThe Vikings don't have a great offensive line, and the Bears defensive line made sure everyone knew it. Khalil Mack was in the backfield all afternoon, and the offense didn't have any time to do anything.
The running game couldn't get anything going because of the holes being closed quickly, and Kirk Cousins had no time to throw. The Bears sacked Cousins six times, and that was with Akiem Hicks missing the game because of injury.
Now Mack gets to face off against the Raiders and there is no doubt he is going to be fired up to put on a show. It could be a long day for Derek Carr, and they better have plenty of ice ready for him after the game.
1. The Bears finally have a kicker
Coming into the season, the Bears didn't seem sold that they actually had found their long term kicker, but only four weeks into the season it's clear they have the long term option.
Eddy Pineiro is dealing with a pinched nerve in his knee, but all he does is continue to make kicks. Against the Vikings, he made all three of his kicks, and he already has a game-winner on the season.
Pineiro can be trusted, and that is a huge plus for the Bears who expect to be in many close games in a very competitive NFC North.
