The NFL offseason is still far from formally beginning, but some of the teams are already locking down some of their more important players. Key linebacker Danny Trevathan will spend three more years at Soldier Field as he re-upped his commitment with the Chicago Bears.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported that the team managed to secure one of the key figures in their defensive line and locker room. This can be considered as a great win for the team as he is one of the few people who were keeping the Chicago roster somewhat competitive during the 2019 season.

Trevathan has been with the Bears for three years, and it's very likely that he'll finish the remainder of his peak years with Chicago. He's been a great defensive presence for them, and fans can expect more of the same from him moving forward.

He only played nine games in 2019 as he had to deal with injuries, but he more than made his presence felt on the field. He had a respectable tally of 70 tackles, 1.0 sacks, and one forced fumble. While he wasn't able to replicate his superb 2018 season due to injury, he's shown enough that the Bears front office was convinced to offer him a fresh contract.

Now that they've secured Trevathan's services, the question now lies as to whether he will have a capable quarterback to help him win games. The Bears may choose to stick with Mitchell Trubisky, but some think they should bring in a new starter. Only time will tell what the team decides to do.
