Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy announced Wednesday that rookie Justin Fields is the starting quarterback moving forward.
How did Fields take this news?
There's a good story here.
Nagy said Fields was “very stoic” when the news was delivered, according to The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain. That kind of demeanor is great for a quarterback to have.

The Bears quarterback then revealed that his parents were at his house on Tuesday night to celebrate the news. But instead of going out, the rookie wanted to stay home and watch film in order to prepare for the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday. So, Fields' parents went out, while the youngster stayed home with his dog to watch film.
You love to see it.
Fields is coming off the first win of his NFL career. After really struggling in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns, the rookie bounced back against the Detroit Lions and showed why the Bears traded up for him in the 2021 NFL Draft. While his overall numbers weren't great, he threw for over 200 yards despite only 17 pass attempts. He completed a handful of big plays, a rarity in Chicago's offense.
The Bears have a tough schedule coming up, so things won't be easy for Fields. Clearly, though, he's going to make sure his preparation is the best it can be.
