The Chicago Bears don't have a lot to look forward to when it comes to their immediate future. They don't have as exciting of a team compared to the rest of the playing field, and Mitchell Trubisky doesn't exactly strike fear into the hearts of many football fans. However, Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia knows better than to underestimate Trubisky.

They will be facing on Sunday with Detroit being the slight favorites. However, Patricia is not underestimating Trubisky's ability to play big in games like this.

Per Dave Birkett in the Detroit Free Press:

“This guy, he’s a good player,” Lions coach Matt Patricia insisted Wednesday. “He’s athletic, he’s strong, he can get out of trouble, he can extend plays, he can scramble, he can run, he can throw. He’s got deep balls, he’s got great skill guys, so that’s the major issue that we have to deal with. He’s a great player, and we got to start there.”

Patricia is giving him respect for the fantastic season he had last year where he finished with 3,223 passing yards and 24 touchdowns. However, he's grossly underperforming this season, throwing for 1217 yards and five TDs through seven games of the season. Nothing much is expected out of the QB who's on his third year of starting for the Bears.

However, that's the sort of disregard that should push Trubisky into playing beyond what's expected of him. He's blocking out all of the negative noise and is determined to finish the season strong. Whether he manages to do that against the Lions is another question altogether.
