The last time we saw Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, he was exiting this team's Sunday night loss to the Los Angeles Rams due to a hip injury.
The injury put Trubisky's status for Week 12 in question, but it's looking like the third-year pro will be just fine.
Trubisky is set to start against the New York Giants on Sunday, and Bears head coach Matt Nagy said on Friday (via Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com) that he is “a little bit” surprised with how quickly his signal-caller was able to recover.
“[W]hen he's in that much pain at the end of a game [like he was] last week, you never really know what will happen over the next couple of days. It doesn't surprise me that he's going to rehab, work hard and do everything he can to get that pain level down so he can play. That's what we feel good about right now.”
This marks the second injury Trubisky has endured this season, as he suffered a dislocated left shoulder back in Week 4 and missed Week 5 as a result.
Article Continues BelowOf course, injuries have been far from Trubisky's only problem in 2019.
The former No. 2 overall pick has struggled mightily this year, throwing for just 1,580 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 62.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 82.2.
While Trubisky has not been Chicago's only issue this season, he has certainly been a central figure in the Bears' struggles.
A year removed from winning 12 games and capturing an NFC North division title, Chicago is just 4-6 and has seen its playoff hopes essentially evaporate.
