There has been plenty of optimism surrounding the Chicago Bears this offseason. At the forefront of this excitement has been the development of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
Unfortunately, Trubisky has yet to show any signs of consistency through training camp. According to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune, he has had some trouble grasping head coach Matt Nagy's new scheme on offense.
Trubisky's struggles are certainly a cause for concern. He was not shy about embracing the expectations that come with being a former second overall pick. Chicago gave Trubisky quite the vote of confidence after surrounding him with the necessary pieces to succeed.
Aside from the arrival of Nagy, the addition of playmakers such as wide receivers Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel, plus tight end Trey Burton, has brought some serious firepower to this offense. However, it appears Trubisky still has yet to find his footing as the Bears' starter thus far.
Regardless of the moves Chicago made this offseason, any success they enjoy this year will be contingent on Trubisky's performance. That said, they are hoping the second-year quarterback can start to make some serious strides by the time the regular season rolls around.
