The NFL has confirmed that Chicago Bears wide receiver Javon Wims will be handed a suspension for the altercation with New Orleans Saints cornerback Chauncey Gardner-Johnson in their Week 8 matchup after an appeal was requested. He is bound to miss the Bears' next two games against the Tennessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings for Week 9 and 10 proceedings, respectively, via Tom Pelissero.

On the Bears’ first possession of the second half, Wims and Gardner-Johnson were talking after a play when the cornerback grabbed the receiver's mouthpiece off his facemask and threw it to the ground.

Wims went on to retaliate in the ensuing play when he grabbed the mouthpiece of the Gardner-Johnson and dealt hits to the cornerback's helmet afterward which happened at the 9:11 mark of the third quarter. Saints cornerback Janoris Jenkins also jumped into the fray and wrestled Javon Wims into the ground before players from both teams came to settle the commotion.
