Beyond a disappointing 23-17 loss in the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, the Chicago Bears also saw third-year wide receiver Kevin White suffer a fractured collarbone.

According to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN, the Bears have decided to place White on the injured reserve list on Monday afternoon.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White will be placed on injured reserve with a fractured shoulder blade, coach John Fox announced on Monday.

This had come to be an expected move given the type of injury that White had suffered that will require several weeks to heal and more than likely surgery. There is a chance that he could come off the injured reserve list following Week 8 as teams are allowed to remove up to two players from that designation.

It has been quite a difficult road to get on the field through the first couple of seasons in the league for White since being selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He has only appeared in four regular-season games in his first two years due to two fractures in his leg. This latest injury now further places the injury prone tag upon him before he's even had a chance to prove himself on the field.

He had the opportunity in front of him to become the Bears' top receiving option with Cameron Meredith out for the season due to a torn ACL. Chicago will now turn to veteran wideouts Kendall Wright and Marcus Wheaton to shoulder the load as the primary targets in the passing game.
