After an up and down season last year for Howard, it's really not surprising the team is trying to move on from him and get something in return. This isn't actually the first time that Howard has been involved in trade rumors. Before the trade deadline last year, the Bears were offered a third-round draft pick which they declined.
“Just before the NFL trade deadline last October, a team in the playoff hunt offered the Bears a third-round draft pick for running back Jordan Howard,” said David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune. “Bears general manager Ryan Pace declined, one of several smart decisions Pace made for the eventual NFC North champions.”
Howard used to be the focal point of the Bears offense, but with Matt Nagy calling the plays he really struggled at times last year. During Howard's rookie season, he burst onto the scene, rushing for 1,313 rushing yards on 252 carries and also rushed for six touchdowns.
Last year, he quickly dropped off production and didn't get his first 100-yard rushing game until Week 14. It's unclear what exactly the Bears would be able to get back for Howard, but it seems like getting a third-round pick at this point would be a big win.
It's unclear what teams are trying to trade for Howard, but it seems like a change of scenery might be what's best for both sides.
