Joe Burrow is getting prepared to play in his first prime-time game with the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night versus the Cleveland Browns. Despite the added pressure of playing in front a few million more pairs of eyeballs, Burrow isn't making a big deal about making his prime-time debut.
“No. I think the best quarterbacks treat every game the same,” Burrow said this week, via The Athletic. “So whether we're playing the only game on a Thursday night or we're playing at 1 o'clock on Sunday in the rain, it doesn't matter. That's my mindset.”
Similar to most rookie quarterbacks, Burrow showed some positives and negatives in his first career start in Week 1. After making a questionable decision on an interception, Burrow had a chance to lead the Bengals to a victory over the Los Angeles Chargers late in the game.
Article Continues BelowWith under two minutes remaining, Burrow drove Cincinnati down the field, showing a ton of poise for a rookie. However, despite putting the Bengals in a position to take the game into overtime, Randy Bullock shanked the game-tying field goal. As a result, Burrow would haplessly lose the first game of his NFL career.
At the least, it will be a quick turnaround for Burrow and the Bengals as they face the Browns on Thursday Night Football. It goes without saying that all eyes will be on Burrow and how he performs under the bright lights in Week 2. If what the rookie said holds true, Burrow is just going to treat Thursday night's game the same as he would any other.
