The Cincinnati Bengals took it very easy with running back Joe Mixon this offseason, giving him only three snaps in training camp. While Mixon is appreciative of the Bengals trying to take care of him, he is ready to get back to work.

“Zac (Taylor) gave me basically the quarterback treatment over the preseason. It’s been great. Trust me, I’m ready to go,” Mixon said, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Of course, considering wide receiver A.J. Green go down with an ankle injury early in training camp that still has him in a walking boot with just a few days left before Cincinnati's season opener, it's not surprising that the Bengals have been treating Mixon with kid gloves.

Mixon is coming off of a terrific 2018 campaign in which he played 14 games and racked up 1,168 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 4.9 yards per carry. In addition, he caught 43 passes for 296 yards and a score.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma, was originally selected by Cincinnati in the second round (48th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 14 contests during his rookie year, totaling 626 yards and four scores while registering 3.5 yards per attempt. He also logged 30 catches for 287 yards.

Meanwhile, the Bengals won just six games last season and have missed the playoffs three years in a row, which comes on the heels of Cincinnati making five straight postseason appearances.

The Bengals will open up their regular season on Sunday when they take on the Seattle Seahawks.
