The Cleveland Browns were embarrassed on Monday Night Football, but quarterback Baker Mayfield isn't ready to hit the panic button yet. The Browns were dominated in every facet of the game and that led to a 31-3 drubbing. Mayfield was a big reason the offense struggled completing only 36 percent of his passes for 100 yards and two interceptions.
Mayfield acknowledged the struggles after the game, but he feels the team knows what they did wrong, and they can improve on what they have done.
“Once again, we’re not hitting the panic button,” quarterback Baker Mayfield said after a 31-3 loss via Pro Football Talk. “For us, we know the problem. We know we have to be better and do better. When you play a great team, you have to eliminate mistakes. You just have to. We know exactly what we need to do. We need to play well. We need to do our job each and every play.”
After every loss this season, the Browns have bounced back with a win, but if they continue that pattern through the entire year, they won't be making the playoffs.
There have some who have questioned if this team has a true identity and that has made life rough. Mayfield doesn't think that is the case and knows it all comes down to the team needing to perform.
“Absolutely not,” Mayfield said. “In Baltimore we did our job. Tonight, we didn’t do our job. Therefore, you play behind the sticks, and it allows a team like that to be able to tee off and do certain things. I think we found out what we need to do. We just didn’t do it tonight.”
Mayfield isn't panicking yet, but if he continues to play like he did on Monday night there are going to be a lot more questions surrounding him and this team as the weeks go on.
