Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield may have spent the beginning of the 2018 NFL season on the sidelines. However, he has now risen to the top of the list for Rookie of the Year candidates.
Mayfield made his career debut in spectacular fashion in Week 3. Sportsbooks now have him listed as the favorite to win ROY this season, via BetOnline.ag.

Needless to say, this was quite the jump made from Mayfield. The Browns had been adamant about being patient with his development before making him the starter. They were ready to stick to their guns despite their struggles over the first few weeks. However, that all changed against the New York Jets when Taylor as forced out of the game prior to halftime.
Mayfield's presence was felt immediately by the Browns offense as he managed to lead them to a comeback victory. Although Mayfield still has yet to make his first career start, he was able to show off all the tools that made him the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. that said, there is good reason to believe that he will be able to put up potential Rookie of the Year numbers.
Mayfield's versatile skill set as a passer and a runner makes him a bit of a matchup problem for opposing defenses. It also helps that Cleveland has surrounded him with legitimate playmakers such as wide receiver Jarvis Landry and running back Carlo Hyde. However, only time will tell whether not he can continue to win with this team.
