Since the Cleveland Browns have taken former Ohio State standout cornerback Denzel Ward with the fourth overall pick in this year's NFL Draft, he has made a strong impression on the team.

According to Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram, defensive back coach DeWayne Walker has voiced that the Browns' plan to bring along Ward in a similar manner to how the Jacksonville Jaguars have done with Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Walker had previously served as the defensive backs coach for the last four years where he had the first-hand experience with Ramsey and how the team handled transitioned him to playing at the next level. The fact that he is stating this the game plan for Ward speaks highly of his ability on the field if they are hoping to make him their top cornerback to cover opposing No.1 wide receivers.

This is a huge responsibility, but this has something that the team appears to be more than confident that Ward will be able to handle even in his rookie campaign. Ramsey had quickly shown that from the get-go as he has been a game-changing talent in the secondary for the Jaguars quickly developing into one of the best cornerbacks in the league that is coming off his first Pro Bowl selection and First-Team All-Pro nod. The Jaguars brought him at a speedy pace to take on that critical role, but he was able to show that he can excel in that spot.

Ultimately, this will all depend on how he performs as the season goes along as he will have a chance to prove he can step into being that top cornerback spot that was held by Joe Haden for several years prior to his departure last August. It is clear that the Browns have some high hopes for their promising rookie.
