Retired quarterback Derek Carr had a few questions for the Cleveland Browns amid their rookie Shedeur Sanders' performance in Friday's preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams. Sanders helped the Browns seal a 19-17 win in the second half. However, toward the end of the fourth quarter, Carr was confused as to why Cleveland didn't stick with Shedeur for the 2-minute drill to end the game.
The Browns' decision with Sanders' playing time bothered Carr, who posted the following questions on his X, formerly Twitter.
“I need to understand why we don't get to see Shedeur Sanders run this 2 minute drill? Wouldn't you want to see your young QB operate in this situation? Get him more reps for the future? I didn't see the whole game so maybe he already showed enough? Help me understand this,” Carr said.
In his first home game of the preseason, Sanders received loud applause when he entered the game in the second half. It also happened after Sanders and the rest of the quarterback teammates found out that veteran Joe Flacco was named QB1. Still, Carr would have liked to see Shedeur get the experience of a close game down the stretch.
Sanders showed out in his preseason debut against the Carolina Panthers. However, an oblique strain prevented him from playing in the Browns' next game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Eric Dickerson drops a shocking Browns' Shedeur Sanders claim

Amidst the Browns wrapping up their preseason and keeping rookie QB Shedeur Sanders as a backup, Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson revealed a shocking claim about Sanders. Dickerson claims the NFL told its teams not to draft Shedeur, including the Browns.
However, the Browns decided to do so anyway, selecting Sanders in the fifth round of this year's draft. Dickerson says this isn't what the NFL wanted, per the New York Post.
“I tell you this much, what I heard from someone that’s in the NFL that the NFL told [teams] don’t draft him, do not draft him,” Dickerson said. “We’re going to make an example out of him. And this came from a very good source, a very good source.”
The Browns were ultimately forced into drafting
“He said that – I won’t say who – somebody called the Cleveland Browns and said ‘don’t do that, draft him,’” he said. “Because they weren’t going to draft him either… They were forced into drafting him because somebody made a call to them.”
Fans will have to wait and see if Sanders will make the Browns' 53-man roster.
