The Cleveland Browns are set to interview current offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens for the permanent head coaching role with the franchise, GM John Dorsey confirmed Monday.

Cleveland suffered a 26-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, which finished up what was certainly an interesting regular season.

After firing former head coach Hue Jackson following the Week 8 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Browns were able to find some momentum in winning five of their last seven games under interim head coach Gregg Williams.

Now, the team's front office will turn its attention to finding the right fit at head coach, and they clearly have interest in Kitchens as a possible candidate to take over that role.

Kitchens has lots of NFL experience on the offensive side of the ball, as he had stops with the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals as a tight end coach before joining the Browns as the runnings back coach back in January.

He has earned plenty of praise for what he's been able to accomplish with Baker Mayfield and the rest of the revamped Cleveland offense, so it's easy to understand why he may be one of the most popular choices among fans of the team.

Still, there will obviously be other top candidates in the mix, including Williams given how well the Browns played under his leadership.

Either way, Cleveland seems to be in much better shape than it has been in a long while, and that could set up well for the new coaching staff once they're officially in place.
