It's been a wild offseason for the Cleveland Browns as they might just be the most dramatic franchise in the NFL. After trading for Deshaun Watson with the Houston Texans, Cleveland gave him a huge contract that is fully guaranteed. Rumors are that it's rubbing opposing organizations the wrong way.
According to Dov Kleiman, other NFL teams were “stunned” by the fully guaranteed contract the Browns gave Deshaun Watson. In comparison to his deal, Patrick Mahomes deal is only 19 percent guaranteed while Josh Allen's is only 39 percent.

In addition to the shock, it sounds like the rest of the NFL is going to ignore the Browns' contract and likely stick with deals that the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills formulated with their quarterbacks. It's no question that Deshaun Watson is a great quarterback, but he hasn't played in over a year and has major off-the-field concerns with 22 civil suits against him for sexual assault.
Article Continues BelowMany franchises across the league showed interest in trading for Watson, however, the contract was ludicrous for a guy in Watson's situation. The contract the Browns gave the superstar quarterback didn't sit well with many individuals, as the fanbase is split on celebrating the acquisition or not.
The NFL has a history of not handling cases like Watson's very smartly, as known woman abusers have received fewer penalties from the league than marijuana smokers over the years. With that said, the Browns found a way to get a deal done with the Texans and gave Deshaun Watson a ridiculous contract as well. We'll see how it plays out, but for Cleveland's sake, the money better be worth it.
If it isn't, then the Browns could be in the hole searching for a replacement once again.
