The Dallas Cowboys were able to come away with an impressive 27-20 win against a tough Washington Football Team in Week 14. This wasn't a game that the Cowboys had to win for the standings, because they are so many games ahead, but it was a big win for the team's confidence as they have not been playing great football as of late. Before this win, they had lost two out of their last three games and people were starting to question just how good the Cowboys were.

They were able to get contributions from everybody on the field and that led to an impressive victory. They are now three games ahead of the second-place Washington Football Team and Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. It looks like they have a great chance to walk away with the conference.

Let's take a look at some takeaways from the Cowboys-Washington Week 14 contest.

Cowboys Week 14 Takeaways

3. Micah Parsons is DPOY

When Parsons was drafted by the Cowboys, some people didn't think that it was the right move. There were questions about him coming out of the draft due to some off of the field issues and questioning if he was actually that good. If Parsons has shown anything throughout his first season with the Cowboys, it's that he's arguably the best defensive player in all of football.

He's going to be a player that the Cowboys are going to value for the next 15-plus years. He has shown that he has the ability to put pressure on the quarterback as well as the ability to make tackles in the open field.

T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers has a great chance to win the Defensive Player of the Year award, but he has missed some games due to injuries. Parsons should have a great chance to walk away with this award because he has been that good as a rookie. He has been the anchor of this Cowboys' defense at such a young age and he's going to continue being a big piece for this franchise in the future.

2. Much needed win for the team

This wasn't a must-win game in terms of the standings as the Cowboys have a commanding lead in the NFC East. This was a game that they wanted to win because they have been struggling as of late and they were definitely starting to hear a bit from the media.

Dallas was able to do its job and walk away with a must-win game for them. They are now 9-4 on the season and three of their last four games of the season should also be wins. They take on the New York Giants, Washington Football Team, a tough Arizona Cardinals team, and the Philadelphia Eagles.

1. Sealed the NFC East

The NFC East hasn't necessarily been close at any point throughout the season. With this win, the Cowboys have a three-game lead and unless something crazy happens, they're going to walk away with the conference. Their biggest concern from here on out is keeping everybody healthy for the playoffs and trying to find the same success that they have for parts of the regular season, in the playoffs.
