As he has done throughout the year, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons has once again bolstered his resume for the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Parsons had a field day in the Cowboys’ 27-20 road win over the Washington Football Team in Week 14. The rookie linebacker was simply all over the place in the contest; he finished with a stout stat line of three total tackles, two sacks and two quarterback hits.

Parsons set the tone for the remainder of the game with an early strip-sack, as Cowboys defensive end Dorance Armstrong returned the fumble the other way for a 37-yard touchdown. This touchdown opened up a crucial three-score lead for the current NFC East leaders.

Overall, this sack was quite a historic one for Parsons; he has recorded at least one sack in six straight games. This streak trails only former Tennessee Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse (8 over the 1999 season) for the longest by a rookie in NFL history. The three-time Pro Bowler went on to set the record for the most sacks by a rookie in league history with 14.5.

With four games remaining in the campaign for Dallas, Parsons sits at 12.0 sacks. He could very well go on to break both of Kearse’s notable sack records in the coming weeks.

In the big picture, Parsons has also established himself as a contender for the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.
