Since the beginning of the season, there hasn't been much progress made on contract talks between the Dallas Cowboys and Amari Cooper. That is completely fine for Cooper, who is comfortable waiting until the offseason to resume talks.

During the offseason, the majority of conversations surrounding the Cowboys had to deal with how they were going to pay all of their key players. Of course, the three crucial players who were looking for extensions were Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Cooper.

Among those three guys, Elliott was the only one to get a long-term contract. On top of that, the Cowboys also chose to pay La'El Collins and Jaylon Smith before Cooper. Nevertheless, that doesn't seem to bother the three-time Pro Bowler.

Last year, Cooper was traded to Dallas after spending his first three and a half seasons with the Oakland Raiders. In his first nine games with the Cowboys, he immediately changed the outlook of the offense. Cooper was able to corral 53 receptions, 725 yards, and six touchdowns in those nine games.

Through the first eight weeks of this season, he has continued from where he left off in 2018. The polished route-runner has totaled 38 receptions, 621 yards, and five touchdowns in 2019.

Moving forward, Cooper is betting on himself to produce good enough numbers to make himself one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. Most recently, Michael Thomas and Julio Jones both received extensions that exceeded $20 million per year.

Without a doubt, Cooper views himself as a receiver who deserves to be paid like those guys. But whether or not the Cowboys perceive him as one of the best wideouts in the NFL is another question.
