David Njoku has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns and there's a certain team that could make a move for the former first-round pick. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Dallas Cowboys have emerged as a possible trade destination for Njoku.

On Friday, Njoku's agent — Drew Rosenhaus — shared that his client desires a trade before training camp later this month. Njoku believes that his role with the team will be mitigated due to the arrival of Austin Hooper in free agency.

The Browns inked a four-year, $42 million with Hooper in hopes he can be the No. 1 tight end in the offense. However, per Cabot, the Browns don't have any interest in trading Njoku. Cleveland exercised Njoku's fifth-year option for the 2021 season earlier this offseason.

Cabot also reported that Cleveland would likely be seeking a first-rounder in return for Njoku. Given his inability to live up to being the No. 29 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, it seems unlikely a team — including the Cowboys — will surrender a premier pick for Njoku.

Nonetheless, the Cowboys could be a team that pursues the pass-catching tight end. As of this moment, Dallas boasts a tight end room that features Blake Jarwin, Dalton Schultz, and Blake Bell. The Cowboys have an immense amount of confidence in Jarwin being able to replace Jason Witten in the offense.

Last season, Njoku was sidelined for 10 games due to a wrist injury in Week 2 versus the New York Jets. Still, Njoku is a season removed from contributing 56 receptions, 639 yards, and four touchdowns in 2018. While the Cowboys are rumored as favorites to land Jamal Adams via trade, they are also being considered a landing spot for Njoku.
