Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is looking to make the offense friendlier for his franchise quarterback, Dak Prescott.

According to Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the boss of the Cowboys understands his young sophomore quarterback didn't enjoy the same statistical output we saw in 2016.

“[Prescott] didn’t have the stats and we didn’t have the year, and I think it’s convenient to call it a sophomore slump rather than a ‘Sports Illustrated’ curse,” Jones said, smirking. “But you might call it that. There’s no question he didn’t have the year he had the year before, whatever.

Making the offense more “Dak-friendly” has been a keyword in Dallas since the Cowboys disappointing 9-7 season came to a close. One thing Jones does know for sure is that his guy is better now than when he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

“I know this: He’s a better quarterback now than when he started last year. He’s got a lot of experience and we can build [on that] and intend to take many of the things he does and experience he’s got and shake it up on offense.”

This past season, the Mississippi State product threw for 3,324 yards and 22 touchdowns to go along with 13 interceptions. He also tallied 357 yards and six scores on the ground, but, overall, the production just didn't match the incredible rookie season that saw him put up 3,667 yards and 23 touchdowns to just four interceptions through the air.

A huge drop off was seen via his completion percentage. Prescott put up a robust accuracy percentage of 62.9 in 2017 compared to 67.8 in his rookie season which flies more efficiently in the pass-heavy NFL.

The Cowboys offense runs through that dominant offensive line anchored by Zack Martin, Travis Frederick, and Tyron Smith. Therefore, many would argue this offense is already as quarterback-friendly as possible.

In any event, Jerry Jones is shooting for the stars when it comes to making his offense “Dak-friendly” so Prescott can improve upon his first two years in the league.
