The Cowboys lost starting quarterback Dak Prescott to a gruesome ankle injury against the Giants. Prescott was crying as he got carted off the field and players from the Giants and Cowboys were very emotional about the play.
Behind veteran QB Andy Dalton, though, the Cowboys defeated the Giants to improve to 2-3 on the season. The former Cincinnati Bengals star went 9-of-11 for 111 yards and helped Dallas win by a final score of 37-34.
The Cowboys are in first place in the NFC East standings after the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team will face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6.
While Dalton obviously didn't want to see Prescott get hurt, he's looking forward to being a starter in the NFL again.
“You never want anything [bad] to happen, but you have to stay ready,” Dalton said, via ESPN. “That's what I've done. I've stayed ready, and I've been ready to go into these games. You want to have the opportunity to play. I knew the situation I was in, and I was just trying my best to support Dak in whatever he was doing. But I feel like I was prepared for these moments.”
Dalton has a 70-61-2 record as a starting quarterback. He'll start the Cowboys' next game on Monday against the Cardinals.
