The Denver Broncos swung a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars to acquire A.J. Bouye back in March. Denver then allowed long-time cornerback Chris Harris to sign a two-year, $20 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, effectively replacing one with the other. But from Bouye's perspective, there's no pressure in needing to keep up with the legacy of a four-time Pro Bowler.

“I don’t look at it as pressure,” Bouye said on a Thursday conference call (via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk).

“Me and Chris have a great relationship. He’s a guy who took me in when I first came in the league. … I can’t focus on living up to someone else who isn’t even here any more.”

For Broncos fans hoping for a Harris replacement, Bouye certainly fits the criteria, having been a former Pro Bowler in his own right back in 2017. After four years with the Texans, Bouye broke out during his three years in Jacksonville, moving all around the secondary. The plan now can roughly be seen as Bouye lining up opposite Bryce Callahan out wide in an attempt to corral opposing wide receivers.

After a massive year of production in 2017 when he recorded a career-high six interceptions and 18 passes defended, Bouye saw his numbers dip to one interception and eight passes defended last year. Despite those numbers decreasing, he set a new career high with 65 tackles.

While replacing Harris was paramount for Denver this offseason, defensive stalwarts Von Miller, Bradley Chubb and Justin Simmons still roam to give the team consistency. They're set to make their regular-season debut together Sept. 14 against the Titans on Monday Night Football.
