Fangio helped produce the league's best defense and it's no surprise that he was given a head coaching job for his recent success. The Bears defense was scary for opposing offenses all season long, often putting on huge performances against strong offensive teams. The Bears held the red-hot Rams offense to six points back in Week 14 to shock the whole league.

Fangio has been an elite defensive coordinator in the league for many years now as he acted as the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator from 2011-2014 then was the Bears from 2015-2019. The schemes he was able to put together with the Bears were incredibly effective and there's not much room for deliberation why the Broncos organization ultimately chose Fangio.

The Broncos were once the most feared defense in the league just a handful of years ago when they won Super Bowl 50 back in 2015 against the Carolina Panthers. The Broncos are likely hoping to return to that elite form with the addition of Fangio and they still have a lot of talent on defense to do so. Denver was flirting with a playoff berth for a good portion of the year after finding success midway through the season but ended the second half of the season on a disappointing note.
