The Denver Broncos have had one glaring hole since Peyton Manning left town, they have been constantly held back by the quarterback. They went out this offseason and found their guy who they hope can be the solution in Case Keenum and they have high expectations coming into the season.
They also have Bill Musgrave as their new full-time offensive coordinator, and he is bringing an entirely new offensive system to the Mile High City. Musgrave feels that the new system he has brought in is going to be great for the team, especially the quarterbacks.
“It's really a system that we built as a staff this offseason,” Musgrave said via Mike Klis of 9NEWS. “We had wholesale changes on the offensive staff. We have our framework that I'm comfortable with and that I can teach and call in a timely manner. And then our staff has put together what we feel is a great system for our players, especially our QBs.”
Musgrave is also trying to make the play calls easier for the quarterbacks in the huddle. Instead of having really long play calls, they are trying to cut it down to just a few words.
The defense for the Broncos is expected to be good again this year, but the wildcard again is how well the offense will play. Keenum will have some talented tools to work with on that Broncos offense in the form of receivers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. If Keenum can successfully run Musgrave's QB-friendly system, it could end up being a special season in Denver.
