To the surprise of many, University of Missouri quarterback Drew Lock slipped past the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, but he didn't wait very long to hear his name called on Friday, as the Denver Broncos took him with the 42nd pick of the second round.

Lock grew up a Kansas City Chiefs fan and actually hoped to be the Chiefs quarterback one day, but when Kansas City picked Patrick Mahomes in the first round of the draft in 2017, that dream was crushed.

Now, Lock will be playing for the Chiefs' AFC West division rivals, and he is ready to take it to his hometown club:

“I could not be more excited to go back to Kansas City and get some wins with the bad guys,” said Lock, according to Lindsay Jones of The Athletic.

There were some who actually thought Lock could be the second signal-caller off of the board after Oklahoma's Kyler Murray, but, instead, Lock was actually the fourth quarterback taken, as Murray, Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins were all chosen ahead of him.

So, obviously, Lock has a pretty big chip on his shoulder, and he seems prepared to take it out on the rest of the league.

The 22-year-old is coming off of a senior campaign in which he threw for 3,498 yards, 28 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 62.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 147.7.

With the Broncos seeming committed to Joe Flacco going into 2019, Lock probably won't be the team's opening day starter, but you have to think there is a chance he will play at some point next season.
