You would think that if the Denver Broncos weren't planning on keeping Chris Harris long term that they would have drafted a cornerback sometime within the first three rounds of the NFL Draft.
They haven't done that, which is an indication that Harris may be sticking around after all.
Harris is currently embroiled in a contract dispute with the Broncos, as he is entering the final year of his deal and wants an extension. However, Denver has not been very responsive to the 29-year-old, with general manager John Elway saying that he would prefer to not talk about Harris' situation until after the draft.
While some have taken that as a sign that the Broncos don't plan on re-signing Harris, Elway is remaining firm that he will talk to his defensive back once the draft concludes:
Article Continues Below“We'll see,” said Elway, according to Mike Klis of 9 News. “Like I've always said, Chris has been a great Bronco for a long time. As I've said, once we get through the draft, we'll sit down and I look forward to talking to Chris myself, personally, and see where we are.”
Klis adds that Denver did listen to Harris trade offers over the last couple of days, but, obviously, the Broncos did not find any deals that truly piqued their interest.
Harris has been absent at Denver's voluntary workouts while he awaits a new deal.
The Bixby, Ok. native is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played 12 games and finished with 49 tackles, a sack, three interceptions, 10 passes defended and a defensive touchdown en route to his fourth Pro Bowl appearance.
