Outside linebacker Von Miller is reportedly generating a ton of interest ahead of the NFL trade deadline, and the Denver Broncos might want to consider it given the situation.
It's still unknown if the Broncos are interested in moving the eight-time Pro Bowler. After all, there is merit in retaining his services since Miller helps the team hide their defensive woes. However, as noted in the report from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the 32-year-old has long wanted to get out of his situation in Denver. Not to mention that there's a prevalent belief around the NFL that the linebacker needs a change of scenery,
Additionally, moving Miller before the trade deadline appears to be the best opportunity for the Broncos given his expiring contract and the need for a pass rush among contenders in the league.
“Several NFL teams are mulling a full-throated pursuit of future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller before Tuesday's trade deadline, league sources said,” per La Canfora.
However, moving Von Miller won't be easy and requires cooperation from the Broncos. Given that he is due $9 million for the 2021 season, some teams might have a difficult time pulling off a trade. According to the general managers interviewed by La Canfora, Denver need to help in moving money around to fulfill the cap rules.
“I'm not sure we can afford him, but if the Broncos are willing to move some money around and help with the cap number, I bet they get a three (third-round pick) for him,” an anonymous GM said.
It remains to be seen what the Broncos will do with Miller, but it's certainly something they need to think about as the November 2 trade deadline approaches.
